Betatest instructions

This is a list of checkpoints we need to clear before making a release:

• Installation:
  • Tarball works, proper file permissions set, correct anonymous CVS subdirs?
  • Install from scratch works?
  • Updating from the previous main release works?
  • Embedded blog works?
  • Check mod_rewrite, errorlogs, no rewrite methods
  • Shared installation works?
  • Database engines: MySQL(i), Postgre, SQLite all work? Right DB creation, queries, ...?
• Categories:
  • Create category
  • Create nested category
  • Use category icon
• Entries:
  • Create a new entry in single category
  • Create a new entry in multiple categories
  • Create a new entry in a subcategory
  • Edit existing entry
  • Preview entry
  • Test if trackback discovery works
  • Test WYSIWYG editor features (images, links, ...)
  • Test non-WYSIWYG-editor features (images, links, ...)
• Browsing:
  • View article overview
  • View extended article
  • View archives
  • Use previous/next paging
  • Browse a single category
  • Browse through a nested category, check if all associated entries in parent categories show up, right article count
• Comments:
  • Test trackback adding
  • Creating a comment
  • Creating a comment with 'remember data'
  • Creating a comment with 'notify me about updates'
  • Previewing an entry
• Plugins:
  • Test HTML nuggets
  • Moving plugins up/down, setting it from left to right
  • Test event plugins / markup plugins
  • Configuring a plugin, checking default values
  • Inserting a new sidebar/event plugin
• Import/Export:
  • Import an RSS feed
  • Export your RSS feed
• RSS Feeds:
  • Test output in all versions (RSS 0.91, 1.0, 2.0, Atom 0.3) + comments
• Test XHTML compliance in standard installation
• Images:
  • Image/file upload (via file/URL)
  • Image/file upload to subdirectory
  • Browse existing images
  • Create/delete subdirectories
  • Sort images
  • Rename, resize images
• Configuration:
  • Change WYSIWYG, language, rewrite options, blog header
• Multi-User:
  • Create users
  • Login with different users
  • Create entries with different users
  • Try editing other user's entries
  • Create restricted user with no publish rights
