Deleting trackback changes comment count

I just deleted a trackback from one of my posts. When I went back to the main page, it said that post had -1 comments and 1 trackback when it actually had none of either. Looks like it decremented the comment count instead of the trackback count.

I don't mean to prod but I'm getting trackback spammed which is making this a big deal. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Does this problem exist in newer versions?
