linklist question

I like the linklist plugin but really would like to have open/close buttons for each category-javascript sort method. I'm not a big fan of having to scroll forever down a sidebar for links, and without the +/- buttons I don't know that my readers (most of which are not-so-computer-savy friends) will not realise that they need to click on a link category to actually see the links.
Also, is there a way to indicate that the links should open in a new window. I know lots of people *hate* this method...but I'm not one of them and I don't like leading people away from my site and then expect them to hit the back button to return.
